Budgetwise values your privacy and the personal information you upload and store on our site. This Privacy Policy explains what information Budgetwise ("Budgetwise", "The Company", "we", or "us") collects about you and why, what we may do with that information, and how we handle your data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any revisions here, and we recommend you check back periodically. Your continued use of Budgetwise after any change means that you agree with the updated Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any changes, you will need to close your account and stop using the Budgetwise Service.
Information We Collect
Email Address
We use your email address to:
- Create and support your Budgetwise account
- Communicate with you
- Send you release updates (with your consent)
- Help prevent spam, fraud, and abuse
Correspondence
If you contact us, we retain records and copies of your communications with us.
Payment Information
To process payments, Budgetwise uses Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We only have limited information about your payment transactions. To view Stripe's Privacy Policy, visit stripe.com/privacy.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Budgetwise uses cookies to help with basic functions like user authentication, remembering your preferences, and understanding how you use the service. Cookies are small data files that a website may save on your device. They usually include an anonymous unique identifier.

Data Sharing
Budgetwise does not share or sell your information.
We may share your information in limited circumstances:
- With third-party service providers that support our business (infrastructure, billing, analytics), who are bound by contractual obligations to keep your information confidential.
- To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it.
- With your consent.
- To comply with court orders, laws, or legal processes, including government or regulatory requests.
- To enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements, including for billing and collection.
- If we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Budgetwise, our customers, or others.
Children's Privacy
Budgetwise does not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent. If we learn that we have inadvertently obtained information in violation of applicable laws, we will promptly delete it to maintain compliance with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA").
Data Retention
We retain account data for a period of time after an account expires. Specifically:
- Free-trial accounts: deleted after 120 days of expiration.
- Expired subscriptions: deleted after 2 years of expiration.
- Lifetime subscriptions: retained unless you contact us and request deletion.
After deletion, we retain your email address to confirm deletion of associated data.
Your Data
Budgetwise does not view or monitor your personal information stored in the service, except in limited circumstances:
- We believe our Terms of Service have been violated and confirmation is required.
- We need to respond to your support request.
- To comply with legal obligations such as warrants, court orders, or other legal process. We will provide you with notice whenever possible.
We do not read or share your data with anyone for advertising purposes.
Account Deletion
You may delete your account by emailing us at [email protected]. This will delete all personal data with the exception of email correspondence. The process takes up to 30 days, with log files retained for up to 12 months.
Data Storage
Your data is stored in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, the information we collect may be transferred to and stored in the United States. By using Budgetwise, you agree to this transfer. We take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure your information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) to protect your data in transit. However, no internet transmission can be guaranteed 100% secure. All payment transactions are conducted through our PCI-compliant payment provider, Stripe.
European Users (GDPR)
The General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") gives individuals in the European Union certain rights regarding their personal data:
- Right of Access — the right to be informed of and request access to your personal data.
- Right to Rectification — the right to request amendment or update of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to Erasure — the right to request deletion of your personal data.
